Jim Presutti is the founder and principal of Hudson Valley Horticultural Services, Inc., based in Newburgh, New York. He focuses on the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, and employs a wide range of methods to safeguard tree health.


In addition to owning and running Hudson Valley Horticultural Services, Inc., Jim is the arborist for the towns of Montgomery, Walden, and Newburgh, and for the village of Tuxedo Park, and is responsible for the well-being of many estates and yards in the Hudson Valley. He also manages seven large gardens as master horticulturist for Alumni Affairs at West Point, and manages terrain mapping and timber marking and appraisal for a forester in Maybrook. In addition, he serves as an expert witness to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.


Jim holds a degree in forestry from Paul Smith's College, is certified in entomology by the Department of Defense, and belongs to the NYS Arborists Association and the NYS Nursery and Landscape Association (for which he served as president in 2012). He is a guest lecturer for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County on pest control, and volunteers on the Board of Directors; he also serves as chair of the advisory board for the Town of Newburgh's Parks and Recreation. Jim also speaks annually on Arbor Day at local elementary schools.


Jim is certified as an arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, for climbing and rescue with the National Arborist Association, and as a commercial pesticide applicator for New Jersey and New York. He is a Certified Nursery Landscape Professional with New York State, and is licensed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, and Pennsylvania.
